Construction: Tejas Remodeling and Custom Homes
GALLANT FOX | RENO + FURNISHING
Plano, Texas
Before we came on the scene, our clients’ new home felt more like a movie set, an imaginative cross between La Madeline and Game of Thrones, which wasn't exactly in line with their prefered design style - New Traditional. The master bath was the first space to get de-Castled and was originally the only space slated for a refresh, but the Snowpocalypse of 2021 burst 20 pipes throughout the house, requiring the ENTIRE home to be renovated. A fun (but moderately overwhelming) problem for our clients as this renovation grew exponentially!
Thankfully we had a great head start in understanding their style and needs through the Master Bath project. We sprung into action (as soon as our power came back on) and pulled together the design for the rest of the house, carrying the same aesthetic, details, and color palette through to create a cohesive space that felt like home.
BEFORE + AFTER
The original plan was to renovate the Master Bathroom over 8 weeks and document the process and design decisions on the One Room Challenge, a twice annual design event where bloggers and designers tackle spaces large and small in a tight timeframe. The plan changed when all of the pipes froze and burst, and the entire house needed to be renovated.
Our hero of a contractor hustled to get the bathroom 100% finished while the rest of the house was still a construction zone (and no, despite what that photo would suggest, TLD didn't actually throw any hammers ourselves). We overhauled their large, dated Master Bathroom and transformed it from blah to a show stopping retreat. You can see full behind the scenes process through the 8 week construction project documented weekly on the blog.
